Club Mission Statement

The Stones River Amateur Radio Club has been designated as a Special Service Club by the American Radio Relay League. As such, the SRARC has devoted many hours of volunteer time to Emergency Preparedness, Public and Emergency Training, Communications Exercises and Practice, and many more of the aspects of using our communication expertise and training for the good of the community in which we live.

Club Meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM Central Time, at the Rutherford County Rescue Squad Building at 1504 W. College St., Murfreesboro 37129

We are also closely allied with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). The ARES group, ably led by N9DGK, Keith Miller, meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month, also at the Rescue Squad building, also at 7:00 PM.

Our meetings usually have a featured program. Past programs have involved "Tower Safety", "Grounding", "Traffic Handling (NTS and MARS)", and other subjects of interest. Future programs are planned for "Kit-Building" and other topics.

The SRARC is a Special Services Club, and as such, has devoted a great deal of time and effort toward serving our community. We have provided communications support for tornado relief and damage assessment, public events, such as the Christmas Parade, and other occasions where our ability to communicate efficiently, both over long and short distances, and the capability to aid disparate agencies' intercommunication, can best serve the communities in which we live.

Several times yearly, we offer Morse Code Practice and Tutorial Sessions on the local repeater system, easily accessible to anyone with a standard police or public service scanning receiver.

If you are a Ham Radio Operator, please join us. If you would like to explore the wonderful world of Ham Radio, come join us. You will find a group of friends. You too can be a Ham if you like. Join us for a meeting or two and see for yourself.

Thanks and 73 (that's Ham Morse Code talk for "Best Wishes")
